Mangkhut’s Aftermath

Mangkhut’s rage has passed at last
seemed like it would never end
tossed us around without a touch
uprooted trees, left much to mend

miles across and eons deep
candy floss spins around an eye
it’s flavour wasn’t pink or sweet
but bitter sucked from sea to sky

now all that’s left of the hurricane
are 3D clouds around my plane
through cotton candy puffs sun shines
showing off their filigreed designs
