Purposely Missed Immunisation

The child is precocious
Attempting to open a coconut cream can
That would present a challenge to a grown man
The opener slipped
Nearly lopping off a tiny tip
Of his left thumb

Many tears, hyperventilation ensue;
And standard first aid steps follow.
Finally, the child is asleep
Thumb bandaged an inch deep.

Next day at the doctors,
The wound is assessed and
re-dressed
Tetvac and tetanus/pertussis jabs
quickly puncture each arm
More tears, hot water bottle at site
Tonight
That's three for the price of one

The child ponders the cost of purposeful abstention
From giving in his parents' form authorisation
for his DTaP booster vaccination
